In July 2012, Mobage/Cygames released a game called Flame of Recca: Burning Evolution. From what I gathered, the character/weapon designs and story are faithful to the manga, and goes beyond what the
lame-ass anime version covered in terms of plot.
Renge (top row, second) Flame Spirit Jisho (third), and J-Keeper (fourth) are some of the manga-only characters that appear in the game.
The cards’ artwork references specific panels in the manga. Plus, the color palettes reflect the original ones Anzai Nobuyuki used (anime!Tokiya has brown hair, and anime!Ensui is white and blue).
As the name of the game implies, you get to “evolve” your cards by combining them and using Scrolls of Awakening. (Also note how Fuuko has brown hair and green eyes like she does in the manga; she has red-violet hair and blue eyes in the anime.) This is awesome stuff for a long-time Flame of Recca fan like me, but there’s only one problem: THEY TERMINATED THE GAME IN APRIL 2013. There was a Flame of Recca TCG for mobile devices, and I missed it. THERE WAS A FLAME OF RECCA TCG FOR MOBILE DEVICES THAT FOLLOWED THE ART AND STORY OF THE MANGA, AND I FUCKING MISSED IT.
Oh, and I only found out about this game by accident while trying to find something using the kanji characters for Mikagami Tokiya’s name. I feel like an idiot for nerdraging over this so badly, but seriously. THERE WAS A FLAME OF RECCA TCG AND I MISSED IT. Here, have a gallery of other Flame of Recca: Burning Evolution screenshots while I flail around until my nerdrage ebbs. *sobs*
