The Spellbinding Vocals of ApatheticOnion

A few years back, my dad started playing the ringtone on his phone, asking me to guess what it was. It turned out to be ApatheticOnion‘s cover of “My Jolly Sailor Bold” from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides:

I fell in love with her voice right then and there. Even though her recordings often have some echo effects or are low quality compared to other fan cover singers on YouTube, the beauty of her voice really manages to shine through everything she uploads. Case in point:

This song, “Doll on a Music Box” from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, is particularly dear to my heart, and I love ApatheticOnion’s cover! She didn’t even need a proper microphone or accompaniment to sound awesome!

I also love the melodies/tunes she composed for songs from Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games books, like “Rue’s Lullaby” and “The Hanging Tree”:

And HOLY CRAP HER RANGE. From sultry and low in her “He’s a Tramp” cover:

To THIS:

I swear, her voice slays me every time, no matter what type of song she sings!

ApatheticOnion doesn’t reveal much about herself on YouTube, and only started showing her face after some idiots were accusing her of lip syncing  or just editing other singers’ recordings to make them look like her own. This woman really doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone with that voice, but I kind of wish we knew more about her! I do hope she sings professionally or does something other than posting YouTube videos under a pseudonym – the world needs more voices like hers!

All her songs are amazing, but here are some of my other favorites:
