2021 Recap: My Year in PC Gaming
So what’s been keeping me busy in 2021? Here are the PC games that ate up a chunk of my time and attention last year!
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey
I had to give up playing Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey for a bit because my old gaming rig just couldn’t handle it anymore, but then my husband surprised me with an upgraded gaming PC and I have returned and have been abusing photo mode. More screenshots in a separate post!
Unpacking
This adorable 8-bit game is such a nice way to destress after a long day of work! My millennial heart also loved seeing familiar items and fandoms from the 90s. I finished this game in two sessions, and I’m kind of sad that it’s super short. There’s something really therapeutic about unpacking items and figuring out how to organize them.
Othercide
I discovered this game through Spotify of all things. A song from the soundtrack (“Soulswap” by Solitaris and holocene) somehow wandered into my Discover Weekly, and I loved it so much that I researched about the game. I’m not a huge fan of tactics-style games, but Othercide is simple enough for me to get into and I absolutely love the music + aesthetics.
Need for Speed: Heat
Just when I was thinking that it’s been a while since I’ve played a racing game, Need for Speed: Heat went up on sale at 80% off during the Steam Winter Sale. What can I say? I’m a sucker for discounts! I’m enjoying it so far; it makes me nostalgic for both Need for Speed: Underground and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (two games I could not get enough of when I was a teen/young adult with a Playstation 2).
New World
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve picked up an MMORPG! While the ping in the Philippines makes the lag terribad at times, I still enjoy wandering around New World to collect items, craft, and decorate my house. Also the lighting in-game is AMAZING.
Sims 4
I’ve always been a fan of the Sims series, and my addiction has come back in full force! I’ve bought a bunch of Stuff Packs and Content, and I’m quite enamored by the new characters and houses I’ve made in the past year. Some of my favorites include a big-name celebrity who lives in the tiniest house I’ve ever made, a full-time farmer who makes around 60,000 Simoleons each day from selling crops AND has a secret witch lair beneath her farmhouse.
Planet Zoo
Planet Zoo caught my attention wayyyyy back and has been on my wishlist ever since. I snagged it during the Steam Autumn Sale, and I love playing zookeeper to some of my favorite animals (even though the game can be so tedious to play sometimes).
That’s it for the PC games I’ve played a lot in 2021! Have you played anything in my list? What do you think of it? Lemme know in the comments!
This post is the first in my 2021 Recap series, where I talk about the stuff I was supposed to post about but kept forgetting to. Stay tuned for the next post!
