Did Tangled Predict the Coronavirus Outbreak?
When people get cooped up over an extended period of time, some crazy conspiracy theories are bound to pop up. And this is probably one of the silliest ones thus far.
Apparently, a bunch of fans over on Twitter have been pointing out that Tangled might have predicted the coronavirus outbreak in 2010.
Aside from the fact that the main character, Rapunzel, is a young woman who grew up in isolation and has been forbidden from going outside her whole life, the name of the kingdom in Tangled that’s gotten everyone talking.
Corona, guys. The name of the kingdom is Corona.
That’s on top of how relatable Rapunzel’s lamentations over being stuck indoors in When Will My Life Begin is to a lot of us in quarantine right now.
And I’ll reread the books if I have time to spare
I’ll paint the walls some more, I’m sure there’s room somewhere
And then I’ll brush and brush and brush and brush my hair
Stuck in the same place I’ve always been
Seriously though, I highly doubt anyone over at Disney is clairvoyant enough to predict a virus that would plague the world ten years later, let alone drop the prophecy into a feature film.
And if they had predicted this would happen, they’d probably have prepared for it better considering that they’re now expecting to lose millions of dollars for closing their theme parks to deal with the pandemic.
Still, it’s this kind of silliness that helps us all stay sane while being cooped up outdoors. We all need a break from the stress and worry from time to time!
